The Story Behind GoBeercats
Originally from Chillicothe, OH Brandon found his passion for the Cincinnati Bearcats in the second grade, it only grew from there. As an alum of UC he needed to channel his thoughts, emotions, highs, and heartbreaks over the teams into a creative outlet. As the craft beer scene started to explode in Cincinnati Brandon found himself discussing the Bearcats with his friends at a new brewery every week. So, GoBeercats started as an obsession over two things, the Cincinnati Bearcats and craft beer.
What started as an anonymous Twitter handle to “test the waters” grew into a blog and now a podcast. The podcast started out as a solo effort with guests ranging from Bearcats legends, sports writers and broadcasters, and sometimes like minded Bearcat-obsessed fans from social media.
In 2024 in the middle of season 4, Darin Russell was officially added as a co-host after making several guest appearances.
Darin and Brandon met while slamming beers at The Den Tailgate during football season. Now they meet up weekly to discuss all things Bearcats.
Exploration Brewery is a pet project of Brandon's. A while ago now, I set out to visit and write about each brewery in Cincinnati. That then expanded into writing about any brewery I visited.
